Arts for Hearts, Inc. presents the original musical about the eventful lives of the immigrants from the former Soviet Republics and Russia, who try to bring up their children in the United States of America. This musical comedy is performed by the teenage students of Vidas Svagzdys's music school, and the actors under the direction of Anna Vasilevskaya. It encompasses various music styles, from Rap to Tango.
The musical starts with the familiar scene: upon returning home after a busy day, a mother finds her children playing with their friends. She learns that "there is no homework", and is determined to fill in all the gaps in her kids' schedule.
When I was a little girl
We weren't playing much at all!
Working on our physics, math, and chemistry, and all!
Staying up all night!
Taking tests left and right!
Which is why your mom and daddy
Turned out to be all right!
All at once the kids find themselves signed up for all sorts of lessons, with no time to spare. And this is when the fun begins!
The final drop of distress comes from the terrible WWW, the Wicked Witch of WASL, which haunts their dreams.
You think you know
How your WASL test will go
But you might get out of luck
And then your testing's gonna suck!
If you're studying every day
Your results may be okay.
But misfortune will prevail
Just relax, and you'll fail
WASL!
And who but the loving parents would come to help, and pacify their worried teens with the soothing lullaby!
